We are dedicated to building a bridge between the community and our youth while developing character and creating great scholars. We will teach sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, self confidence and the the value of community service through sports and meaningful programming.

About The Collinwood Cobras, Inc.

The Collinwood Cobras, Inc. was founded in 2018 by Darnell Banks (Coach Buck), a Cleveland Native and Collinwood homeowner, who felt a call to action after witnessing antisocial behavioral patterns increasingly influencing our youth, and affecting our community. Having experienced firsthand the profound impact organized sports has on on a child’s well being and coaching in the Cleveland Muny football league for over 20 years Coach Buck set out with a vision for change. Given the challenges faced by communities grappling with poverty, the solution is not simply replicating the conditions that support the availability of sports opportunities in wealthier communities. Since this program operates all year around, we have worked diligently on all aspects of the program. We are definitely open to new members, there is a need to partner with existing community structures. School wellness councils can help create and sustain the momentum of parents organizing to ensure that sports opportunities exist for their kids. We also plan to create new pipelines of volunteer coaches. Our city is in dire need of safe and supervised spaces to gather, existing space can be renovated or repurposed creatively accomplishing this obstacle. As our program grows we would like to collaborate with the Cuyahoga Land Bank to see this component realized.
